What it is (plain English)

Getting the data that feeds ServiceNow clean, loaded, and kept clean: your people, departments, locations, vendors, and any records migrated from an old tool. Every module's usefulness is capped by the quality of this data — bad data in means wrong assignments, misleading reports, and frustrated users.

Problems it solves

  • Reports and dashboards nobody trusts because the underlying records are wrong or duplicated.
  • Work routed to the wrong team because department/location data is stale.
  • Migrations from legacy tools dragging years of junk into the new system.

What the customer needs to provide

  • Named data owners: one person per data set (people data, location data, legacy tickets) who can answer "is this right?"
  • A decision on legacy data: migrate it, archive it read-only somewhere else, or start fresh. (Starting fresh is more often the right answer than people expect.)
  • Sample exports early — surprises in data shape found in week two cost far less than in week ten.
  • An ongoing process for keeping feeds fresh (an integration via Integration Foundation beats a quarterly spreadsheet upload).
